Can you believe we’re in the final home stretch? I’m looking forward to having a lot of fun and enjoying as much time as I can with your children over the next month and a half – I know it is going to fly! This week, we started preparing for our end of the year celebration program, which will be held on Friday, June 1st at 9:00 a.m. The program will be short and sweet for those of you who need to get to work after. We are looking forward to sharing some special songs and poems!

We have been learning about seeds and growing. We talked about how plants grow and the three important things they need to grow – soil, water and light. We even learned a song, ask your child to sing for you! Have you heard the exciting news yet that most of our plants are starting to grow!? It has been so fun to check on them each day and find new little green leaves starting to pop up! We also painted some beautiful pots of flowers and are starting to learn about bugs.

We have been talking about Mary the Mother of Jesus and how she loves us too. We went to the beautiful May Crowning Ceremony last Friday. We are so excited to give our Mothers all the LOVE they deserve with a special card we made for Mother’s Day. You are the luckiest moms in the world!!!

Spirit week was fun and we did have ”sum” fun celebrating our final fundraiser “Matheletics” . We danced on the parking lot and even got popsicles from our principal! This week was awesome!

I am proud of how the preschoolers have grown this year and we have all learned so much!

Next week we have No School on Friday may 18th. It is planning Day for the teachers.

As always email me with any questions or concerns kaltman@sjfschool.net.

Have a great weekend and Happy Mother’s Day!!

We are getting ready for Easter. We have read many Easter and Spring stories. One of my favorites is Be Patient Little Chick, we are all working on our patience so if your child is getting anxious just remind them” Be patient, little chick”, it may bring a smile to their faces! We painted an adorable bunny with our handprint and practiced our cutting skills by making a cute yellow chick out of an oval shape. We used the watercolors to paint a beautiful Easter egg. We had so much fun mixing colors and dying real eggs too!  We worked hard on a cute chick activity that practiced many important skills. We practiced our fine motor skills by ripping brown paper and gluing it together to make the chick’s nest and our patterning skills by choosing two different color squares and gluing them to make a pattern border .Mrs. Newman made a cute paper plate Easter bunny with the preschoolers as well.

We are learning all about the meaning of Easter and are continuing to work hard to be like Jesus. We want to be kind and a good friend to all just like Jesus was! Thanks for all the plastic eggs I can’t wait to read your clues next week and guess what is inside. If you forgot, just bring it in next week. We have so many jelly beans and are so excited to do our counting, sorting and graphing project with the 4th graders next week. We will be celebrating Easter on Wednesday. If you would like to send in a treat for the class, you are most welcome to do so. There are 25 students in class. We will all be the students of the week next week since it is a short one, so the preschoolers may bring in something for Show and Tell. Show and Tell will be on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week .They LOVE to bring in their toys from home, but please remember to send something that can be handled by 25 eager little ones. Looking ahead, our last class date before Easter break will be Wednesday, April 4th.  We will have finished all of our letters, oh my how the year is flying by! It is a good idea to keep practicing them with your child flashcards are a great learning tool!

Weekly News

Happy Friday! We decided to stay on letter Vv and just review our letters because we had so many preschoolers absent this week. We had an average of 8 children missing each day. I think there is a lot going through preschool, like strep and the flu ,so if your child is sick, please keep them home. Hopefully we are all feeling better next week!

We had so much fun learning about St. Patrick and Ireland. We learned that the shamrock is a symbol for the Holy Trinity, God the father, Son and Holy Spirit. We mixed yellow and blue finger paint to make the color of a shamrock, green.  We also had fun imagining what it would be like to catch a leprechaun. We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with some green river floats, they were delicious!

Spring has sprung and the weather has been so beautiful! We had fun playing in the playground. I posted some cute pictures on our blog.

Our next student of the week is Olamide. You may bring in a special toy and some pictures of your family.

As always email me with any questions or concerns.
